Experience (you can see my resume here)

Proofreader/Editorial Reviewer

In the spring of 2023, Nearpod asked me to join them for another project, this time as an Editorial Reviewer for new K-12 Social Studies lessons. I reviewed and revised lesson scripts for grade-level suitability as well as edited for grammar, syntax, spelling, and consistency. As that project neared completion, I began editing K-6 Math lesson plans, and I have also just started an editorial audit of existing K-5 Social Studies lessons, looking for all of the above issues as well as fact-checking.

In 2022, I finished a project proofreading K-5 Math curriculum for Nearpod, an instructional platform for teachers which provides interactive, online lessons across a variety of subject areas. My role was to compare final lesson plans to the scripts from which they were generated and identify errors in grammar, spelling, syntax, consistency, layout, and overall readiness for publication.

Resume Writer

In July of 2023, I earned the Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW) designation.

I spent several weeks of 2023 writing resumes and cover letters for Randstad RiseSmart, helping to offboard employees who had been laid off. Prior to that, I wrote dozens of resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles at Let's Eat, Grandma, named "The Best Resume Writing Services of 2022" by The Balance Careers. Within six months I was promoted to Premier Team Writer and twice named Writer of the Month, and at my one-year anniversary I was promoted to Level 4 Writer (the highest level) and asked to join both the Executive Concierge Team and the Escalations Team.

Associate Editor

I typeset and proofread religious academic research manuscripts and articles for journal and book publication at the Global Center for Religious Research.

Ghostwriter

By definition, a ghostwriter is uncredited for their work and a certain level of discretion is expected. I've written dozens of blog posts across multiple industries and I was the primary writer-blogger for client Garden of Esther, posting nearly 200 times under her name from January 2019 through June of 2020.

Writer

I wrote all the content on the websites I designed from the ground up, which you can also access through my Portfolio page. I've also written content for multiple newsletters, brochures, advertorials, and flyers.

I have been published in Home Education Magazine, and although they have since gone out of business, you can read my work for them on my Writing page.

Editor

In addition to editing all of the above, I've also edited for most of my clients, from revising written material they had already created to reviewing presentation slides to advising on new business cards.

I've worked with high school students on their college application essays, helping them tell their stories, in their own voices, while making sure their Is were dotted and their Ts were crossed.

I've compiled and edited playbills for community theatres, polishing bios and managing layout challenges.

Designer

I've designed websites, flyers, brochures, and playbills.

Skills

Proficient with Wix and Canva; familiar with Publisher, Mailchimp, and SEO writing.

Judge

I've been a judge for the Independent Publishers of New England (IPNE) annual book awards for works published in 2020 and 2021.

Training

In November 2022, I completed several LinkedIn Learning Certificates:

  • Instructional Design Essentials: Models of ID

  • Learning How to Increase Learner Engagement

  • Editing and Proofreading Made Simple

In November 2021, I completed a 50-hour module in copyediting and proofreading at Proofreading Academy (now Knowadays).
