Here are 20 more post-apocalyptic novels every writer in this genre should consider reading. I assume you've read The Stand already, and if you've ever considered self-publishing you know the Cinderella story that is Hugh Howey.

One Second After was blurbed by, of all people, Newt Gingrich.

Metro 2033 was the inspiration for two wildly popular video games (Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light)

The PD James on this list is the same PD James who is immensely popular as a writer of crime fiction.

So once you've put in your word count for the day on the novel you're writing, grab one of these. Consider it research, not lounging around!
